'Miami Vice' Sinks 'Pirates' at the Box Office

After a three week run at the top, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest relinquished the top spot to "Miami Vice". According to CBSNews.com: "The film, which pairs Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx as the iconic TV characters Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, took in $25.2 million, compared to $20.5 million for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest,' according to studio estimates Sunday." Pirates still came in second at the box office and now holds the title of the highest grossing Disney film of all time. That's nothing to shake a peg leg at!

This year, we are having a debate about the top costumes for boys and men. At first glance, the obvious front runners are the Superman Returns Costume and the Captain Jack Sparrow Costume. After all, blockbuster movies like Superman Returns and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest usually have a strong influence on costume popularity. Pirates of the Caribbean gets box office gold for the 3rd week in a row!

Here is my tribute to Johnny Depp & The Pirates of the Caribbean movie Dead Man's Chest for staying on top of the box office for the third week. According to News24.com, "Johnny Depp and his pirate friends are keeping all the box-office treasure for themselves. Depp's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest remained the top movie for the third straight weekend in the United States on Sunday."

National Costumers Association Convention

I am still recovering from an awesome convention! The National Costumers Association's Annual Convention was in Savannah Georgia this year from July 7, 2006 - July 12, 2006. It was an awesome time of costume parties, events and classes on subjects ranging from email marketing for costumers to making pirate hats! Our opening night costume party was a Civil War Era BBQ and the President's Banquet costume party had a pirate theme. But not just any pirate could attend this event, Pirate Captains & Ladies only! Wenches & scalawags were made to walk the plank! As always, I was excited to see our costumer friends from around the world, many of them are like family to us. And Savannah - such a beautiful place! I did not want to leave; but now it is back to reality and time to batten down the hatches and prepare for our Halloween Season 2006!
