5 Biggest Movie Stories from Comic Con

Popular movies = popular Halloween costumes, especially the type of movies that are featured at Comic Con.

Each year, I pay close attention to ComiCon San Diego, wishing that I were there and watching all the great stories and surprises that come out of it. Here is a great recap from Moviefone:

1. The 'Marvel' panel lives up to the hype.
The panel featured upcoming Captain America and Thor movies. I was excited to see that Hugo Weaving was cast as Red Skull in the Captain America movie. There was also a special surprise teaser for the upcoming 2012 Avengers movie:
"The screen went black, Samuel Jackson's voice narrated a trailer tease for 'The Avengers' as the title treatment appeared, and the cast came out on stage: Jackson (Nick Fury), Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), and the three previously missing pieces of the puzzle in Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo "reprising" (or more accurately, replacing Edward Norton in) the role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk, and Joss Whedon as the movie's director. Those people lucky enough to be in the room had never felt prouder to call themselves geeks."

2. 'Scott Pilgrim' screening wows the fans.

ComicCon fans went crazy over the trailer for this new movie, which heralds the geek as a hero who fights off ex boyfriends in attempt to get the girl.

3. Han Solo and James Bond, together at last.

Both Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford appear in Jon Favreau's new sci fi western movie 'Cowboys and Aliens'. This marked Harrison Ford's ComicCon debut, and the fans welcomed him with open arms and cheers.

4. 'Tron' footage and party takes fans back to the future.

The Tron movie is finally opening this December, something that ComicCon fans have been waiting for 3 years since the Tron trailer premiered 3 years ago at ComicCon.

5. Warner Bros. panel shows new 'Harry Potter' footage, but 'Sucker Punch' gets the buzz.

The trailer for the newest Harry Potter movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (part 1) was screened and even though this is one of the biggest movies being released this fall, the cast did not have a big presence at ComicCon.

A movie that did get a big reaction from the crowd is Green Lantern, and the big reaction was evidently more for Ryan Reynolds, than for the movie trailer. The article reported that he recited the Green Lantern Oath, word for word, which has got to be greatly appreciated by any GL fan! He also signed a comic book for a lucky fan.

But the biggest buzz coming out of the Warner Bros. panel was for Zack Snyder's 'Sucker Punch,' a fantasy-action film with an all-female cast that includes Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung and Jena Malone. We will have to stay tuned for that, because I am sure if will be packed with sexy costumes!

Stay tuned to our blog for the latest costumes, new ones are arriving everyday for Halloween 2010!

Comic-Con 2008 Preview Night in Photos!

It's official - Comic-Con has officially begun and hordes of geeks have invaded the San Diego Convention Center yet again. For the third year in a row we were on hand in order to capture the opening night mayhem in photos. This year we present an exclusive look at the show floor during preview night, including some shots of the movie-related booths and much more. Not only were there some strong presentations from Sony, Lionsgate, and Warner Brothers, but we've spiced things up with a few costume photos (the only ones we could find so far), Watchmen action figures, and whatever else awesome that we came across while battling the crowds. If you've been waiting to get excited, this is your first chance - enjoy!

New Movies Announced at Comic-Con = Future New Costumes!

Comic Con CostumesI'm always on the lookout for what's next in the costume world. The Comic Con convention in San Diego earlier this month is defnitely a crystal ball into the future costumes of Halloween 2008 and beyond.

I know, Halloween 2007 is still two months away, and here I am talking about 2008 already!

Well, here are some futuristic movie highlights from Comic Con courtesy MTV.com

» Marvel executives and "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau revealed plans to begin teaming heroes in future flicks (see "Comic-Con: 'Hulk' Smashes At Marvel Panel, Plus 'Iron Man' Cameos To Spawn 'Marvel Heroes' Flick").

Iron Man Costume» Steven Spielberg revealed live via satellite that Karen Allen would return in the forthcoming fourth "Indiana Jones" as the whip-wielder's greatest love, Marion Ravenwood (see "Comic-Con: Karen Allen To Appear In 'Indiana Jones IV' ").

» "300" director Zack Snyder revealed the poster and cast for his highly anticipated "Watchmen" movie (see "Comic-Con: 'Watchmen' Poster Revealed!").

» Sam Raimi let it slip that he recently met with Marvel producer Avi Arad to lay the groundwork for a "Spider-Man 4" script.

» The villainous Zachary Quinto was announced as Mr. Spock in the upcoming "Star Trek" re-launch flick (see "'Star Trek' Earmarks A 'Hero' To Play New Spock In J.J. Abrams Flick").

The MTV Movie Blog has a list of BIG movie news uncovered at Comic Con:

– Seth Rogen told us his “Green Hornet” isn’t going to be all laughs.
– We found out Tyrese Gibson and Joan Allen are going to take a “Death Race.”
– The Marvel panel blew our minds with “Incredible Hulk” news and “Iron Man” footage.
– Hope you aren’t feeling Narnia’d out because a lot more flicks are on the way.
– We spent a day with the man of the moment, “Watchmen” director Zack Snyder.
– You got a sneak peek, courtesy of Dee Snider, of “Hatchet.”
– We found a pretty creepy dossier on “The Dark Knight”’s Joker.
– We took a look at J.J. Abram’s secret monster movie and its guerilla marketing.
– We found out that the only thing better than one Spock is two Spocks!
– And we got psyched for the return of Marion Ravenwood to “Indiana Jones.”

Comic-Con Convention Costumes

Comic-Con San Diego just wrapped up lat week. It took place July 24 - 27th at the San Diego Convention Center. It drew over 120,000 attendees. I would of have loved to be there! The costumes were bountiful and so creative. Of course, I like it when people purchase our costumes for events like this, which some do, but then there are those who create costumes and it really shows off their imagination and talent. I found so many links to stories and pictures for the event, I was wondering how I would incorporate all of the info in a blog post. So, here is a list of links to articles and pictures:
